ICE Update: Siobhan Davies Archive

A Seminar Siobhan Davies and the Siobhan Davies Archive team

Venue:

Institute for Creative Enterprise (ICE),

Coventry Technology Park, Parkside CV1 2QR

Monday 27th April 2009 - 5:30pm-6:30pm

ICE  and CeMAP are pleased to welcome Siobhan Davies, to talk about the Siobhan Davies Archive, which is due to be launched in June 2009. The archive has been a collaboration between Coventry University and Siobhan Davies Dance, with funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). This seminar is open to all creative businesses, students and staff.

The Siobhan Davies Archive project began in January 2007, with its aim to bring together in one collection all of the materials and documentation associated with Davies' choreographies. It is the first online dance archive in the UK and contains thousands of fully searchable digital records including moving image, still image, audio and text.

The archive shows Davies' connections with the wider field of contemporary dance; and also details Davies' individual path as a choreographer, reflecting the evolution of her thoughts and processes, the mark of her collaborators and her dancers. Sarah Whatley and Siobhan Davies will delve into the process of creating the digital archive, highlighting its impact on Davies' choreography and the wider dance community.

To book a place at the seminar event please contact Jenna Hubbard on 02476158304 or jhubbard@cad.coventry.ac.uk

This event is free and open to all. Refreshments will be provided.
